Pidro is a Finnish card game for four persons - pair against pair. It is related to the games Pitch, Pedro, Set Back and Cinch widely played in North America, and can be seen as a member of the Pitch card game family. Apparently Pedro mutated into Pidro late in the 19th century when the game was brought to the Ostrobothnia region in Finland by either returning emigrants or seamen. The aim of the game is to bid the highest to get to choose the suit to be played. Six tricks are played with the goal to capture at least as many of the 14 value points as the bid. Dare and succeed or fail and be penalized.
Pidro Challenge is a downloadable card game for Windows. You and your computer partner play against two computer opponents. The artificial intelligence is very good giving the feeling of experienced pidro players around the table. Easy to learn but with endless variation, this game offers hours after hours of fun and clever gameplay. Pidro hasn't been introduced as a casino game yet but it will certainly make that jump soon.
